Course Description: Graduate Certificate in eLearning
Transforming education for the future
HELI’s Graduate Certificate in eLearning (GCeL) course is designed by industry and education experts for anyone who wants to build a foundation in technology-supported learning, education and digital learning design and development. Transfer to the Master of eLearning is available.
It is a six-month full-time or equivalent part-time course to provide graduates with the requisite eLearning knowledge, skills and understanding to work effectively in academic or workplace learning and development settings. Teaching and learning activities have been arranged to foster progressive and coherent achievement of expected course and subject learning outcomes regardless of a student’s place of study or the mode of study.
This course will suit anyone who wants to pursue a career in learning design, digital learning project management and leadership in academic and related professional learning or corporate learning settings or anyone who wants to enhance their skills and understanding in eLearning to progress in their existing role.

- Students must successfully complete all 4 units listed above and accrue a total of 32 credit points to be awarded the qualification.
- Students will normally complete HEP805 prior to taking HEP808.
- Domestic students may complete the course fully online or opt to undertake designated units (^) face-to-face at HELI’s Melbourne campus.
- Onshore international students (studying on a student visa) must study full-time face-to-face at HELI’s Melbourne campus with the exception of the designated online unit (*), which is not offered face-to-face and must be studied online for alignment with unit focus.
- Offshore international students will complete the course 100% online and may study full-time or part-time.
- Full-time students (including onshore international students) normally complete two units per trimester and complete the course in two trimesters (approximately seven weeks).
- Part-time students normally complete one unit per trimester and complete the course in four trimesters or approximately 16 months.
- Each unit is delivered over a study period of 12 weeks, which includes 10 weeks of structured activities, one week for finalising and submitting final assessments, and one week for approved resubmissions. Each unit has 3 hours of class time and one hour of academic contact time per week. Students should allow an average of 8 hours per week of self-directed activities for reading, additional study, completing engagement activities, and preparing assessment tasks.

Domestic
Applicants for this course must provide evidence that they hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent or higher) in any discipline(subject to verification).
International
Applicants for this course must provide evidence that they hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent or higher) in any discipline(subject to verification).
Applicants whose highest qualification was not delivered in English must demonstrate English equivalency by providing evidence of one of the following:
- Academic IELTS: 6.5 or higher overall, with no band lower than 6.0; OR
- IBT (Internet-based TOEFL): Overall score of 79 with a writing section minimum of 21 and speaking 18; OR
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Overall score 180, writing and speaking 180; OR
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): Overall 176 with a with a writing and speaking minimum score of 169; OR
- PTE Academic Module with a minimum score of 58 with a writing and speaking section minimum of 50; OR
- English For Academic Purposes Level 2 (EAP 2): Upper Intermediate ‘A’ grade or higher with IELTS 6.5 requirement.
Study Pathways
This course also enables the students to proceed to Master of eLearning. HELI offers a pathway to Master of eLearning and an exceptional eLearning and digital experience with the combination of unique methodology, contemporary theory and industry practice.
