Course Description: Graduate Diploma of eLearning

Transforming education for the future

HELI’s Graduate Diploma in eLearning (GDeL) course is designed to form part of a portfolio of nested qualifications including the proposed Graduate Certificate of eLearning (GCeL) and provides an entry point into the currently accredited Heli Master of eLearning course. 

The Graduate Diploma is a 12- month full-time or equivalent part-time course to provide graduates with the requisite eLearning knowledge, skills and understanding of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technology-based learning processes and resources.  In this program, teaching and learning activities have been arranged to foster progressive and coherent achievement of expected course and subject learning outcomes regardless of a student’s place of study or their mode of study.

To qualify for the award, students are required to successfully complete the eight (8) core units listed below (equivalent to a total of 48 credit points).

While not mandatory, it is recommended that students complete the course by following the unit sequence in the table below. Units denoted by (^) are delivered online and face-to-face; units denoted by (ᴼ) are only delivered online.

The Graduate Diploma of eLearning has been accredited by TEQSA. Admission and English Language Requirements

To satisfy the entry requirements for admission to the Master of eLearning and Graduate Diploma of eLearning offered by the Institute, applicants must provide evidence that they hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent or higher) in any discipline. Additional English language requirements for international students are provided in tab below.

For more information on admission requirements including special entry requirements, please refer to the HELI Admission Policy.

Applicants with international qualifications not delivered in English must demonstrate English equivalency as follows:

  • Academic IELTS: 6.5 or higher overall with no band lower than 6.0; OR
  • IBT (Internet-based TOEFL) overall score of 79 with a writing section minimum of 21 and speaking 18; OR
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Overall score 180, writing and speaking 180; OR
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): Overall 176 with a writing and speaking minimum score of 169; OR
  • PTE Academic Module with a minimum score of 58 with a writing and speaking section minimum of 50; OR
  • English For Academic Purposes Level 2 (EAP 2): Upper Intermediate ‘A’ grade or higher with IELTS 6.5 requirement.

Study Pathways

This course also enables the students to proceed to Master of eLearning. HELI offers a pathway to Master of eLearning and an exceptional eLearning and digital experience with the combination of unique methodology, contemporary theory and industry practice.

FEE-HELP (For Domestic Students)

FEE-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan available to eligible students enrolled in HELI Courses in order to help pay all or part of their tuition fees.

FEE-HELP is available for all Units of Study for eligible students.
